Ceramic Commission, West Hollywood.
A unique challenge emerged while combining two apartments at the historic Sierra Towers in West Hollywood. An immovable structural pole obstructed the stunning 26th-floor views of Los Angeles, the objective was to transform this eyesore into a captivating feature. With no access to the top or bottom of the pole, an innovative system was designed to allow ceramic cylinders to wrap around it, securing them both vertically and horizontally. This project showcases a seamless blend of creativity and engineering, resulting in a striking focal point that enhances the space. A video is available to illustrate how this transformation was achieved.
Dry stone finishing: Using no mortar or cement, each tile is securely locked into place with custom hidden brackets, providing an effortless finish and the versatility to remove the installation without damage—whether to relocate it or to gain access to the building structure within.
